Kingdom New Testament
The Kingdom New Testament is a single-scholar translation of the New Testament, undertaken with the aim of making first-century meaning vivid in contemporary English. Its scope is limited to the New Testament, rendered from Greek and based on the Greek New Testament rather than on any earlier English version, and it is therefore classed as a fresh translation rather than a revision of an existing text. Its translation philosophy is dynamic, sometimes described as historical-literary, seeking to convey the sense and idiom of the original setting for present-day readers. Among its distinctive features, it is more interpretive than formal committee versions, though it remains a direct translation from the Greek rather than a paraphrase. In this it belongs to the long-standing tradition of individual renderings of scripture, which have circulated alongside the committee-produced Bibles that have dominated English translation since the Reformation era.
