New American Standard Bible
The 1995 Update is a widely used modernized form of the New American Standard Bible, prepared to remove most archaic pronouns and to smooth the syntax of the earlier text while retaining the translation's formal method. Covering the complete Bible, it works from the Hebrew, Aramaic, and Greek and rests on updated critical texts, continuing the tradition of literal English translation that the NASB inherited from the American Standard Version line. Its translation philosophy is formal equivalence, and it is classified as a substantial revision, taking the NASB 1977 as its predecessor and base translation. In style it is more traditional than the later NASB 2020, and it has remained in common use for study, preaching, and reference among readers who favor close correspondence to the wording and structure of the original languages.
