King James 2000 Bible
The King James 2000 Bible is a distinct turn-of-the-century modernization of the King James Version, undertaken to render the Authorized Version's language more accessible to contemporary readers while preserving much of its familiar cadence. It covers the complete Bible. Its source languages are given as English, with reference to the original languages, and its base text is the King James Version itself; it is therefore classified as a revision rather than a fresh translation from the original languages, with the KJV as both its predecessor and its base translation. Its translation philosophy is one of moderate KJV modernization, chiefly the updating of archaic vocabulary and forms. The work belongs to a long line of efforts, extending from the nineteenth century onward, to update the 1611 Authorized Version, whose phrasing has shaped English-language worship, literature, and speech for centuries and continues to attract readers who value its traditional style.
