Evangelical Heritage Version
The Evangelical Heritage Version is a new Lutheran English Bible designed for use in church, in worship, and in the home. Prepared as a fresh translation of the complete Bible from the Hebrew, Aramaic, and Greek, it draws on modern critical texts while giving broad consideration to the manuscript evidence. Its translation philosophy is balanced, or moderately formal: the committee behind it describes its method as balanced rather than tied rigidly to any one theory of equivalence, positioning the work between the poles of strict word-for-word rendering and thought-for-thought paraphrase that have shaped English Bible translation since the twentieth century. In this it continues the long Lutheran engagement with vernacular scripture that reaches back to Martin Luther's German Bible, and it takes its place among the confessionally rooted translations produced for particular church bodies alongside the broader stream of modern English versions.”
