Wuest Expanded Translation

The Wuest Expanded Translation is a highly expanded rendering of the New Testament, prepared by the Greek scholar Kenneth S. Wuest, long associated with Moody Bible Institute, and issued in the middle of the twentieth century. Its aim is to bring grammatical and lexical nuances of the Greek into view for readers working only in English, drawing on the critical Greek New Testament as its base text. Rather than seeking a compact equivalent for each word or phrase, it unfolds tense, case, and word meaning at length, so that the text runs considerably longer than a normal translation; it is nevertheless presented as an expanded translation rather than a paraphrase. Exegetically expanded and pedagogical in philosophy, it belongs to the small category of expanded translations, and has been used chiefly as a study companion alongside conventional versions rather than as a text for public reading.
