New Messianic Version Bible
The New Messianic Version Bible is a modern Messianic English Bible, distinct from the better-known works of that stream such as the Complete Jewish Bible (CJB), the Tree of Life Version (TLV) and the Orthodox Jewish Bible. It covers the complete Bible, and its translation philosophy is described as Hebraic contextual, an approach common to Messianic editions that seek to foreground the Jewish setting, idiom and vocabulary of the biblical text for English readers. It is categorised as a fresh translation rather than a revision, placing it outside the long chain of revised editions that runs through much of the English Bible tradition from the sixteenth century onward. Messianic versions of this kind emerged largely in the later twentieth and early twenty-first centuries, alongside the growth of Messianic Jewish congregations. The entry is included here as a completeness backstop for coverage of English translation and revision families.
