NET Bible
The Second Edition of the NET Bible (New English Translation) is a major revision of a version first developed as a freely accessible, internet-distributed English Bible, and it retains the translator-note apparatus for which the NET is best known. Covering the complete Bible, it was translated from the original Hebrew, Aramaic, and Greek and draws on updated critical texts of those languages. Its translation philosophy is mediating, occupying the ground between more literal and more idiomatic approaches, and it is supported throughout by extensive notes that record textual, lexical, and interpretive decisions rather than leaving them implicit. Bibliographically it is classified as a substantial revision, with the NET Bible First Edition serving as both its predecessor and its base translation. Because the wording of the two editions can differ, it is best cited as NET2 in contexts where exact wording matters.
